My 40th Birthday!

California Snow!

This is the closest us "Central Valley" folks of California gets to having snow during the Winter months. I woke up this morning around 630am and it was completely White outside. Cars, Lawn, Roof Tops of our home, and even the Mail Box has frost on its little metal roof. It was so crispy outside but it was so nice and refreshing for a change~

Year's biggest Full Moon is tonight!

I'm so excited to see this wonderful ball of light in the sky. If the fog just stays away long enough for me to take a peek is all I'm asking for. Tonight, The full moon will be the biggest one of the year. The moon's average distance from us is about 238,855 miles. Friday night it will be just 221,560 miles away. It will be 14 percent bigger in our sky and 30 percent brighter than some other full moons during the year, according to NASA.

So get yourself a glass of wine and head out to take a peek.

~Cheers!

12 days since the Sun paid a visit!

Ahh, the sun decided to break through the fog today and I just had to take a pic. In fact, I went out barefoot and closed my eyes and let the sun hit my face. Its been 12 days since us "Central Valley Mercedian's" have seen the sun. What a difference the sunlight makes. Our neighbors all decided to yardwork at the same time. LOL

~Oh what a beautiful mornin, Oh what a beautiful day~

Merced stopped by St. Mary's

The tears told the story. Our season was suddenly over. On a very cold, clear night in Merced, California our Merced High Bears were going to walk on that football field and give Merced what we've been wanting for a long time. A Sac-Joaquin Section Division I Playoff WIN!

For the second straight year, Stockton St. Mary's came into Stadium '76 and walked away with a win in the Sac-Joaquin Section Division I playoffs.

The final score: St. Mary's 35, Merced 24.

This one really hurt. The Merced defense came up with big turnovers with an interception and a recovery in the first half. However, the penalties continued to plague our guys, including six false start penalties in the first half alone!! We're 42-7 the last Four years! That's hard to do. It's hard to get to this game. I don't think people realize how hard it is to get to the section finals and no matter what, WE are very proud of our guys and the coaches. It's so sad because most of these boys have played with each other since they were 9 years old. It's amazing because they all treat each other like brothers.

~To the Merced Bears Football teams, We are VERY proud of your hard work~

MHS WINS!! the Second Round Play-offs

We win! Im so excited for our MHS Varsity Bears Football team. They worked their behinds off last night to win yet ANOTHER Play-off game against Johansen High School (Modesto, Ca). The win in the second round San-Joaquin Section Division I playoffs will allow us to have home field advantage next Friday night. Merced (11-1) will host Stockton St. Mary's (10-2) next week in the Semifinals. It's the third straight year Merced will play St. Mary's in the playoffs.

Stayed tuned for next weeks final score!

The First Signs of Christmas

Today is one of my favorite days of the year! It's the day I take out my most favorite holiday decor! This is NOT the day that you would have found me storming the doors of my mall at 5am. Today is however, a day I've been waiting for since early this Summer. This is the day that I watch my favorite Christmas movies while I put up my Christmas tree and decorate the house! Family Stone and Love Actually are on tap as well as my favorite Spumante Sparkling Wine! I cannot wait until my house is decorated in white twinkle lights, the look of Red and Green, & the smell of my favorite Christmas scented candles~

Oh how I love this day...

~Merry Christmas (yaaaaa! Ive been waiting ALL year to say this)

MHS wins Play-off game #1 and is ready for Play-off game #2

#1. Make the Play-offs (check)
#2 Win Play-off game #1 (check,check)
#3 Win Play-off game #2 (TBA)

That's right folks, my MHS Bears are on their way to Play-off game #2. We will be hosting Johanson High School from Modesto, Ca. Cant wait to see my Bears win yet ANOTHER game. Our record so far is 10-1. Here's a little print from the Merced Sun-Star:

Merced's stars came through when they were needed, as Merced pulled away late for a 30-14 win over Tracy in the first round of the Sac-Joaquin Section Division I playoffs Friday night at Stadium '76. There was Mathis and his 156 rushing yards and a touchdown on 19 carries. There was Bolden's 95 rushing yards and a 64-yard touchdown catch that finally gave Merced (10-1) some breathing room early in the fourth quarter. There was Allen Huddleston tossing three second-half touchdowns. Tracy (7-4) couldn't stop Merced's ground game. Mathis and Bolden (95 yards) helped Merced rack up 295 rushing yards.

The last signs of Summer

So I was in my flower garden cleaning out the leaves and weeds when I came across a couple of beauts that are hangin on by a thread. Yes, Winter is here but my lovely flowers are still smiling at me everyday. Here they are...for the last time in '08

Something to ALWAYS remember...Mayo and Beer

So, first thing this morning I logged onto my favorite site, The Nest-Northern California Boards and I saw this post. Such a wonderful example of life...

When things in your life seem almost too much to handle, when 24 hours in a day are not enough, remember the mayonnaise jar and the 2 beers.

A professor stood before his philosophy class and had some items in front of him. When the class began, he wordlessly picked up a very large and empty mayonnaise jar and proceeded to fill it with golf balls. He then asked the students if the jar was full. They agreed that it was. The professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured them into the jar. He shook the jar lightly. The pebbles rolled into the open areas between the golf balls. He then asked the students again if the jar was full. They agreed that it was. The professor next picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar. Of course, the sand filled up everything else.. He asked once more if the jar was full. The students responded with a unanimous 'yes'. The professor then produced two beers from under the table and poured the entire contents into the jar effectively filling the empty space between the sand. The students laughed. 'Now,' said the professor as the laughter subsided, 'I want you to recognize that this jar represents your life. The golf balls are the important things---your family, your children, your health, your friends and your favorite passions---and if everything else was lost and only they remained, your life would still be full. The pebbles are the other things that matter like your job, your house and your car. The sand is everything else---the small stuff. 'If you put the sand into the jar first,' he continued, 'there is no room for the pebbles or the golf balls. The same goes for life. If you spend all your time and energy on the small stuff you will never have room for the things that are important to you. 'Pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness. Spend time with your children. Spend time with your parents. Visit with grandparents. Take time to get medical checkups. Take your spouse out to dinner. Play another 18. There will always be time to clean the house and fix the disposal. Take care of the golf ball first---the things that really matter. Set your priorities. The rest is just sand. 'One of the students raised her hand and inquired what the Beer represented. The professor smiled and said, 'I'm glad you asked. ' The beer just shows you that no matter how full your life may seem, there's always room for a couple of beers with a friend.

Opi, I love you!

So, as you know, I'm obsessed with the color Purple/Plum this Fall. I had a Mani/Pedi about a month ago and found this AWESOME color by Opi. Its called Lincoln Park After Dark and it's such great color! You wouldnt believe the compliments I received by wearing this color. Its every girls "must have"!

As I was reading through my favorite blogs I came across "All Things G&D" and noticed that she too has the luv of Purple this year. She has an Opi fav and im going to try it out. This color is pretty much the same color as Lincoln Park After Dark but the way it looks on her, it looks like its not as dark. Im so excited to try it out! This Opi color is called Lincoln Park At Midnight...

So, I have this new obsession!!

For the color Purple! Yesterday I visited my favorite hair salon, Salon di Capelli, and as I was getting my color and cut I noticed this handbag calling my name. Martha (my stylist) has the most adorable handbags for sale and I WANT THEM ALL! Seems that the color of choice for me this Fall/Winter is the color Purple/Plum! Here is what im going to adopt today after I get off work today...
